| OUR PURPOSE: Education is the only hope many Native American children living on reservations have to escape a life of 60 percent-plus unemployment and a per capita income of $6,000. Unfortunately, on many reservations as Native American children are exposed to education it is through non-Native American teachers who do not fully understand the Native American culture. This often results in a conflict of cultural style and for the most part creates a mysterious source of conflict between teacher and child. Sweetwater Education Foundations goal is to help provide Native American teachers for Native American children by granting scholarships to Native American college students who intend to return to their tribe and teach on the reservation and who respect the traditions and spiritual values of their tribe. Sweetwater Education Foundation also provides financial support to other projects considered beneficial to Native Americans. Sweetwater Education Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and all contributions are tax deductible as allowed by the IRS. At Sweetwater Education Foundation no wages are paid; all work is done by volunteers. Contributions may be sent by mail to: Sweetwater Education Foundation 20327 FM 2252 San Antonio, TX 78266. Staff:
